Erin McKeown Guitar Tab Song Title: Daisy N Prudence From Album: Distillation Transcribed By: kiran Contact Email: kiranlynn@cox.net ********Tuning (if not standard): [a note from MCKEOWN] kiran! thanks for tabbing this out, it's one of my favorites... a couple thoughts: the low E string is tuned UP to a G... it makes it much easier to play. you can play all the chords against this note anywhere on the neck, plus you have an extra finger free! the second chord in the bridge is a B7, although with plenty of open strings to choose from, it can get messy. but it's a juicy moment, so make the most of it. your "spelling" of the chords marked "G#7" and "A7sus4" might be simpler... i am not that smart to throw those chords in! they are probably just cloudy versions of the I, IV, or V. and you are right to point out the KCRW january 01 session where i play it on the piano... it's actually a little "straighter" than this one. pardon the pun! x mckeown Notes on how to play it: [back to kiran] This tab is definitely not perfect, so mess around with it where you can. I think the trick behind the piece in general is that although there seem to be a lot of chords, it’s really just a few basic ones moved all across the neck. What makes the song sound so unique is how Erin plays them. I’m not a great guitar player, so I can’t tell you her tricks (which is also why I couldn’t tab out everything... that and laziness), but one thing to keep in mind is that she often either slaps the lower string or just simply plucks the lower notes to keep a steady beat going in the background, and then uses her other fingers to play the higher strings against that beat.
